Nicole Pontzer
Nicole began practicing yoga in 1998. She completed her first yoga alliance certification through teacher training with Stephanie Keach. She has completed additional trainings with Doug Swenson and Shiva Rae over the years since. Nicole enjoys teaching her classes in the vinyasa flow style and chooses to place emphasis on the subtleties of alignment and breath within the pose. In her classes, the repetition of the poses as well as the transitions creates body alignment awareness. In her life outside of yoga, her most inspiring teacher is her son Phoenix, who continuesto teach her every day more than she every thought she was ready to learn! She shares her home in Winterville with her awesome husband, amazing son, three lovable dogs, two troublesome cats, and four sassy backyard hens.

SJ ![]()
SJ discovered yoga many, many moons ago, but began to delve deeply in about four years ago. Yoga became a lifeline, then a love, and then a passion. She trained with Shiva Rea in February and March of 2011, experiencing a full immersion into the many-faceted diamond that is yoga. SJ, being a musician most of her life, and a dancer for many years, was powerfully drawn to the fluid movements of Shiva’s teachings. Gracefully syncing movement with breath and music hit a bingo for SJ, and she’s been rocking the Fluid Power ever since. Her flow is a vigorous one, focusing on the natural pulsations of the body when fully synced with the breath, and the awesome vibrancy that ensues as a result. When she’s not on her yoga mat, she’s got a ukulele in her hands or maybe just a really good adventure book. She likes to catch glimpses of hummingbirds and frogs. She’s also a complete word nerd and wishes she could somehow fuse yoga with Scrabble. She lives in Athens with her sweet drummer husband and two cats; all three are total rascals.

Michael Black ![]()
Michael was raised in Athens, and fell in love with yoga after the ecstatic feeling produced by the first class he took at the age of 17. That feeling drove him to develop a daily practice and to study yoga more in-depth, formally through spending time at Satchidananda Ashram-Yogaville and taking two teacher trainings – one through Vastu School of Yoga and the other through Rubber Soul Adventure Club – as well as informally through daily self study. He really finds teaching to be a joy and hopes that he can do his part in spreading the health and happiness that yoga is able to unveil.
